First stone laid for the “Silea Parco” project
Completely abandoned for years, the first stone for the new “Silea Parco” project in the former Chiari e Forti area in Silea was laid on Thursday 15th May, 2008 with a solemn ceremony, in the presence of the Mayor of Silea Silvano Piazza, of the President of the Province of Treviso Leonardo Muraro, of the President of Veneto Region Giancarlo Galan and of Ing. Francesco B. Caltagirone, Chairman of the Acqua Marcia Group.
The Group will convert the former industrial area, creating a multifunctional park with houses, offices, shops, tourist and hotel activities, as well as a 40000 sq m park with an amphitheatre to host public and private events, and a museum regarding the peoples of Sile.
A school will be built and the road network will be enlarged with a direct connection to the A27 motorway and to the centre of Treviso.
Special attention has been paid to environmental protection and energy saving; in fact, the project contemplates the use of renewable, environmentally friendly energy and of advanced bioarchitecture technologies. Besides, most of the internal traffic will move underground, making Silea Parco a wide pedestrian area with green spaces and gardens.
“It will be an intervention of improvement in harmony with the surrounding environment. When this kind of work is carried out, the consequences on the general public are important and inevitable”, declared Ing. Caltagirone; “our goal is therefore to achieve a balance between private elements and those of public utility”.
The President of the Region, Hon. Galan, further added: “Silea Parco will be an example of what I like to call ‘the third Veneto’ […]. We cannot go on projecting as we’ve done so far, we can no longer be content with small plans: we must aim at innovation and quality”.
