Acqua Pia Antica Marcia for Telethon 2008

For the fourth year running, the Acqua Marcia Group confirmed its supportive commitment to the Telethon fundraising marathon, strongly supporting Prof. Alessandra Ferlini’s research project on Duchenne dystrophy. The aim of the professional, who works at the University of Ferrara, is to test a procedure still not widely applied for the treatment of Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

This year, the company was represented by Camillo B. Caltagirone (BoD member) who, in his telephone intervention, reasserted the strong wish of the Group to support Dr. Ferlini’s research, with the hope of finding as soon as possible a solution to this severe pathology which almost exclusively affects male children in their early years, with an incidence rated on 1 out of 3500, which accounts for 50% of all forms of dystrophies.
“Therefore, it is right”, stated Camillo Caltagirone “to try to give hope to all who suffer from this terrible disease”.
